As a child I remember my parents practicing and encouraging me to do yoga but it was not until moving to Queenstown 1997 and becoming involved in the adventure guiding business and dancing that I started to practice and explore for myself.
After arriving back from traveling overseas in 2007, I became involved with the Gym to rehabilitate from injury and was then offered the opportunity to train as a Les Mills BodyBalance Instructor, which combines Thai Chi, Yoga & Pilates choreographed to music. It was then that I started to understand how Yoga helped me to re-build and reconnect to my body and how much I enjoyed helping people to do the same.
As I started to want more yoga to balance my lifestyle in the Wakatipu, I became involved with Studio Sangha. The idea that yoga was more than just “jumping around on a plastic mat” for fitness, started to filter into me, then with the motivation to learn more and to teach, I joined a fantastic team of people in October 2011 to become a Yoga Alliance Certified L1 Teacher in Hatha Yoga, trained by Lance Schuler and his amazing team from Inspyayoga.
So I encourage you to reach out and challenge yourselves on all levels of your being, Body, Mind & Sprit.
Namaste.
