I attended my first yoga class in 1992. It was an Ashtanga class at the town hall in Crested Butte, Colorado. One class and I was hooked. It was a dynamic flow class that was strong and moved like dance through my body from one posture to the next.
It was an instant love affair with what made me feel good and what I knew was intrinsically correct for the human body and mind.
In Oct 1999, I attended Bikram’s teacher training in Las Angeles. It was a grueling 10 week course that challenged my body more than I thought possible and opened my mind. I taught Bikram Yoga on Colorado for 3 years and then applied for and was accepted in to Yogarts, a 9 month program in Byron Bay, Australia.
At Yogarts, I studied with top Iyengar teacher, Glen Sarasoli as well as met my 2 lifelong teachers Rose Baudin and Lance Schuler. It was a nine month rebirth and completely changed my life. That program does not exist anymore and I am very grateful it was a part of my education.
I arrived in New Zealand in 2004 and starting teaching out of town halls. I saw a real need for yoga here. I opened my studios in April 2004.
In 2006, I went on a month long course for an advanced yoga degree with Donna Farhi. It was, again a whole different experience and deepened my understanding of human evolution, growth and pattern we create in the body.
I continue regularly with upgrading my education. This year, I returned to the States for Bikram’s Advanced Yoga seminar covering the original 84 posture series. Once again, it was grueling and I loved it. I love to be pushed and challenged. It is through continually connecting with my teachers that I evolve my practice and teaching, gaining depth and precision.
The more I have studied Yoga, the more intrigued I have become.
I practice daily, and study with my teachers whenever I can. I learn from my students and my business.
And after all these years, I still love Yoga.
