Dynamic Hatha

L1 Dynamic Hatha beginning and new students-  Begins with the basic postures that make a Sun Salutation. Also teaches the student neutral pelvis. By strengthening the core in neutral, the student can safely explore movements beyond the core. We learn how to sit, lie down and stand properly. We learn our beginning poses that lengthen the body as well as strengthen such as down facing dog, plank, up facing dog, and triangles. We begin to explore spinal movement and baby back-bends. This class is great for those with injuries, imbalances and just starting out on the Yoga path!

L1-2 Dynamic Hatha Continuing students-  We start to practice a more flowing Sun Salutation and moving out from the core into bigger forward bends, back-bends and twists. We work on intermediate triangle postures like half moon and revolved triangles, as well as adding more shoulder openings. We start to get an understanding of and build strength for beginning inversions.

L2 Dynamic Hatha or Vinyasa – more advanced students- We move in to more challenging arm balances, inversions and back-bends. We do sun salutations and students are expected to know alignment in triangles and basic postures so we can start moving and grooving! Don’t be scared but this class is for more play and having fun but students must know their alignment and support. Please talk to Peggy if you have any querries about L2 classes and your attending them. I am happy to work with students on getting their levels up and feeling comfortable in a more advanced class.

In all our classes at Studio Sangha, we do try to “read” our students energy levels. In certain times when everyone feels low, we may have a slower class with longer relaxation or more restorative postures. We do like to try to give the students what they need, as well as keep them challenged in the practice with vigorous sessions and a willingness to work hard. Your attendance is always appreciated and students usually find they get what they need in classes when energy is a bit low or different.

Yoga heals.

Dynamic Hatha is our core Hatha yoga class.  It has pieces of Iyengar, Ashtanga and vinyasa flow. It is a combination of styles and theories that Peggy and Amanda have learned from teachers like Lance Schuler, Donna Farhi, Bikram and many others including pilates and core work.

Our Dynamic Hatha class strives to help the student understand levels of awareness and changes that occur with regular practice.
