Dynamic Hatha is a blend of static and flowing postures, sometimes using props and sometimes not. It is a freestyle form of teaching that follows the students energies, season and time of day.
Dynamic Hatha is our core Hatha yoga class. It has pieces of Iyengar, Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow. It is a combination of styles and theories including pilates and core work.
In Dynamic Hatha we learn the basic postures that make a Sun Salutation and beginning series, teaching the students neutral pelvis and neutral rib alignment. By strengthening from the core, students can safely explore movements beyond the core. We learn how to sit, lie down and stand properly. We learn our beginning poses that lengthen the body as well as strengthen such as down facing dog, plank, up facing dog, and triangles. We begin to explore spinal movement and baby back-bends.
In all our classes at Studio Sangha, we do try to “read” our students energy levels. In certain times, when everyone feels low, we may have a slower class with longer relaxation or more restorative postures. We do like to try to give the students what they need, as well as keep them challenged in the practice with vigorous sessions and a willingness to work hard.
Yoga heals.
