Mat Pilates

Peggy in Bridge
Pilates L1 New students and anyone with injuries. Also a good standby for continuing students. You understand neutral pelvis. Everyone welcome.
Pilates L1-2 A general all level class but with a definite step up from the L1. New students welcome. Students know neutral pelvis and can now start to engage transvers abdominous (tva) and the pelvic floor muscles with more endurance. Students can start to know the different muscles through feeling and firing them and relaxing when they don’t need them. Students start to understand when the body weakens and starts to refer to another muscle group, or brace, or prop, basically not use the muscles at all, or improperly.
Pilates L2 We try to push it as strong as our strongest student can go! This class is dedicated to students who know Pilates and have the strength to switch on for a sustained amount of time, usually about half and hour front side and half an hour backside. L1-2 students are welcome and are expected to correctly modify or stop if they start referring or tiring. This L2 class is fun and challenging for the advancing student. Please no new students (unless with permission) or back injuries.
Mat Pilates teaches neutral alignment. When the core is correctly switched on by the deep core stabilizers, we are able to then move safely from a strong core.
We have seen the Pilates help all our yoga practices, as well as Bikram yoga, with all the “head to knee” poses, the coiling forward bend head to knees. We have seen backbends of advanced students deepen with ease. The results have led me to tell every student, “one pilates mat class a week!”
